About Gina Posner

Gina qualified as a speech therapist and audiologist from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2010. She was awarded with the AB Clemmons Research Award for her research study ‘Examining the appropriateness and accessibility of websites about aphasia designed for people with aphasia’. She subsequently completed a master’s degree in speech pathology in 2015 with a dissertation entitled ‘The experiences of employed caregivers, working in private
South African homes, with patients who have suffered from a stroke.

Gina presented at the South African Neurological Rehabilitation (SANRA) Conference in both 2011 and 2015. She has completed training in VitalStim therapy for dysphagia
(swallowing difficulties) in addition to which she has completed the Lee Silverman Voice
Treatment (LSVT LOUD) course for Parkinson’s Disease. 

 

She completed her community service in 2011 at South Rand Rehabilitation Hospital.
Following this she worked as an audiologist for Impact Hearing Systems. In 2012 Gina
returned to her passion of adult neurorehabilitation and worked at McCulloch Harrison & 
Partners in both in-patient and out-patient settings. She then moved to Rita Henn & Partners
at Netcare Auckland Park Rehabilitation Hospital in 2015 where she worked in the stroke
and traumatic brain injury (TBI) units until the end of 2019.

 

Gina is extremely passionate about treating adults with acquired neurological and voice
impairments. She lives in Johannesburg with her husband and two sons.
